Dieter Rampl
Since January 11, 2006 Dieter Rampl is the Chairman of the UniCredit Group.
Born in Munich, Germany on September 5, 1947, he studies [Business] Economics and takes a banking-apprenticeship in Munich.
In 1968 he starts his career at Bayerische Vereinsbank (Munich) in the Trade and Commodity Finance Business.
From 1969 to 1970 he operates in the Foreign Trade Financing area at Société de Banque Suisse (Geneva) before he rejoins Bayerische Vereinsbank in 1974, where he runs the Corporate Lending and Credit Dept. in New York until1980 and at the Düsseldorf Branch until1982.
In 1983 he joins BHF-Bank Frankfurt; from 1984 to 1987 he is General Manager of BHF North America, New York and in 1988 he becomes Manager for the Corporate Business in Frankfurt. In 1993 he leads the acquisition of the Investment Bank Charterhouse, London where he acts as Managing Director until 1994.
Back to Bayerische Vereinsbank (Munich) in 1995, he is a Member of the Board for the Corporate Business and Corporate Finance until January 1, 2003 when he is appointed as Spokesman ofthe Board of Managing Directors.
