Lottomatica acquires 50% stake in Global Bingo Corporation

On 18th September 2001, Lottomatica S.p.A. acquired a 50% interest in Global Bingo Corporation SA (GBC), the leading bingo operator in Spain with 52 bingo halls located mainly in the Madrid and Barcelona areas and in Andalusia. Mediobanca, BNL and Gallo & Co. acted as advisors to Lottomatica in this transaction.

The deal provides two options for GBC, which can be exercised by the Lottomatica directors on its board. The first is an option to acquire the entire share capital of Playservice S.r.l., which has recently been awarded a provisional licence to operate 36 bingo halls in Italy, and the second to acquire 100% of Bingo Technology Manufacturing S.L., which produces bingo equipment.

This transaction will enable Lottomatica to pursue its diversification strategy, thus consolidating its position as market leader in the Italian gaming industry
